Abstract

Text to speech signal generation by the computer is now playing an important role in communication. In the last few years, this technology has been widely implemented for several languages for different platform ranging from personal computer to stand alone systems. But in Bengali there is no such system. A Text To Speech (TTS) system for Bangla language can help visually impaired people to read newspapers, e-book etc and improve man-machine interaction through on-line newspaper reading from Internet and enhancing other information system and finally it is very useful for the blind people. In this system Bengali texts are taken as inputs and then these are stored as characters. These characters are converted into English ones by using Unicode texts to ASCII codes transliteration. These are converted into phonetic representation after text analysis and Grapheme to Phoneme (G2P) conversion. Prosodic analysis and waveform synthesis are done in this representation. Finally the speech is generated from the given texts.
